My role during that period was to provide the “living” bridge to the medieval masterpieces on display. By demonstrating the specific protocols and tool-logic of the 11th and 12th centuries, we were able to offer curators from the V&A, British Museum, and The Courtauld a rare, hands-on insight into the minds of the original masons.
Collaboration at this level is essential for the art world. It moves the conversation from static observation to a deep, technical understanding of intent.
Today, that same collaborative spirit drives our work at Courtmaster Carving. Whether we are applying the 1080 Protocol to a cubic metre of Carrara marble in partnership with Roger Eno, or preparing for upcoming projects with The Ashmolean Museum, the goal remains the same: to fuse historical authority with contemporary creation.
It’s a privilege to see how these seeds planted in Mayfair continue to grow across 23 countries through our Guild duties.
